Cover Block - Why It Is Used In Reinforcement

What Is Cover Blocks

Concrete Cover Blocks is basically a Spacers which is used to provide spacing at Slab, Column, Beam & foundation. Application is very simple as place COVER BLOCK between Rebar(Reinforcement bar) and ground/wall.

Spacers are used to provide specific height for your concrete reinforcement structure before pouring.

There are four types of Cover Blocks/Spacers,

    1. Slab Cover
    2. Column & Beam Cover
    3. Foundation Cover
    4. Piling Cover

Now we switch to application mode. Cover Blocks are now becomes more common at constructions sites. As it strengthen the ROOF TOP and also BEAM.

Why Cover Blocks Are Used In Reinforcement

    1. To provide the spacing between the reinforcement and shuttering
    2. To protect the steel reinforcement to prevent corrosion from environmental effect.
    3. To give reinforcement bar sufficient embedding to enable them to be stressed  without slipping.
    4. to provide thermal insulation, which protect reinforcement bar from fire.
